The beginning
Mirai was born from a love of Indian craftsmanship — the precision of hand embroidery, the softness of true silk, the stories woven into every fabric.
We buy the way a family buys: from the workshops themselves. Chanderi from the weavers who have worked it for generations, Banarasi zari from the looms of the old city, Bandhini tied dot by dot by hand. No middlemen, no warehouse lots, no guessing where a piece came from.
The making
A hand-woven saree takes weeks on the loom. Hand embroidery adds weeks more. That time is the product — it is what separates a piece you wear for a season from one you keep.
Every order is checked by a person before it is packed: the fall of the drape, the finish of the zari, the weight of the fabric in the hand. If it would not pass in our own home, it does not go in the box.
The point of it
Handloom and hand-dyed cloth carries small irregularities in weave and colour. These are not defects — they are the fingerprints of the person who made it, and the reason no two pieces are ever quite identical.
Look after it and it outlives the occasion you bought it for. That is what we mean when we say heirloom: not a word on a label, but a piece your daughter can wear.
